The City of Port Coquitlam’s Public Works Division is currently seeking energetic, enthusiastic and motivated individuals for temporary full-time opportunities working with City crews in various sections of the department including streets, utilities and solid waste.  The work is semi-skilled in nature, performs a variety of diverse activities, and involves physical effort and agility performing a diverse range of labour related duties. As a casual employee you would typically be employed for the purposes of temporary increased workloads in the division, vacation or absence relief.
We would like to speak with you if you:
  • Have one year of previous municipal experience related to public works maintenance tasks; such as garbage collection, streets maintenance, vegetation control or utilities maintenance and/or experience in civil construction projects;
  • Alternatively you have only six months previous experience and have successfully completed Water or Wastewater Operator course;
  • Have a positive can-do attitude; and
  • Have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (Class 3 with air endorsement is preferred)
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement. The current 2015 rate for this casual position is $27.69 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
