Insurance & Claims
Provides advisory services and analysis to the Senior Manager, Insurance & Claims in support of the enterprise insurance program. Performs claims analyses, contract reviews, and routine processes associated with the management of the Transportation Property & Casualty Company Inc. (TransLink's Insurance subsidiary) and its operations.
Participates in the development, enhancement, analysis and monitoring of the insurance program for the enterprise. Coordinates and assists in the completion of information returns required for the annual renewal of the enterprise's
insurance program by:
- Reviewing and updating the statement of replacement cost values for corporate assets including the preparation of detailed schedules; and
- Lliaising with staff from TransLink and its subsidiaries to ensure insurance data is complete, accurate and remains current.
Designs, develops, performs and maintains reports and analysis of insurance data. Liaises with external brokers and insurance providers in the management of data used for analysis, application preparation and reporting as required.
Performs reviews and analysis of assigned contracts with specific focus on insurance and risk issues including RFP's, tenders, and agreements to ensure the provisions meet TransLink's requirements.
Liaises with internal contacts such as legal counsel, procurement, real estate, engineering and others on matters pertaining to risk, insurance and contract reviews.
Reviews Certificates of Insurance to ensure the contracted insurance requirements have been met.
Liaises with business leaders and staff across the enterprise to proactively provide insurance advice, and to promote, educate and build understanding insurance risk exposures and requirements.
Liaises with Insurance & Claims staff to collaborate on problem-solving, knowledge sharing and information exchange to support the effective integration of insurance and claims processes.
Liaises with external contacts such as brokers, actuaries, auditors, insurance underwriters, and other industry organizations and regulatory agencies to manage complex issues and respond to queries. Also liaises with municipal and provincial government representatives as required.
Supports the Senior Manager, Insurance & Claims in their role as Senior Officer of the Transportation Property & Casualty Company Inc. by ensuring the entity remains compliant with regulatory requirements and governing standards, and by coordinating external audit processes. Also supports the Senior Manager, Insurance & Claims with Transportation Property & Casualty Company Inc.'s annual recertification process.
Assists the Senior Manager, Insurance & Claims with insurance policy wording on Transportation Property & Casualty Company Inc. policies and other documents.
Participates in department initiatives as assigned.
Represents the insurance department's interests on various corporate and divisional initiatives.
Education & Experience:
The requirements for this job are typically acquired through a degree in commerce, finance, or a related discipline, plus a Canadian Risk Manager (CRM) designation. Requires 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced business administration knowledge, with emphasis on all aspects of risk management and insurance.
- Advanced skills in MS Office applications, with emphasis on Excel.
- Advanced skills in data analysis of complex information.
- Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide advice and counsel in the resolution of complex, sensitive issues.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences.
- Solid teamwork skills, including the ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
Please note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Once in the process, testing will be used to confirm this suitability and all internal applicants will be required to obtain a pass mark of 70% on each component of the testing to demonstrate a minimum level of proficiency in the position.
Discipline and attendance are performance factors and will be assessed during the job selection process.
37.5 hours per week.
Rate of Pay
Salary: $74,733 - $93,416 per annum
