Come work with the Peace River Regional District team in the mighty Peace Region of northeastern BC – world renowned for our friendly people, spectacular outdoor recreation and linkages to the Yukon and Alaska.
The Peace River Regional District includes four electoral areas and seven member municipalities, with a total population of approximately 60,000, covering a vast 120,000 square kilometer area.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this exciting position will provide oversight for investing, budgeting, accounting and financial controls to ensure that relevant information supports strategic decision making, financial sustainability and efficient delivery of financial services.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: forecasting cash flow positions and related borrowing needs; advising on short and long range liquidity aspects; maintaining policies and procedures; budget support; monitoring and evaluating capital expenditures; providing accounting expertise; and asset management.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a related discipline, such as financial management or business, along with a recognized Chartered Professional Accounting designation, and a minimum of two to five years of related financial management experience, preferably in local government.
We are seeking applicants with proven management skills, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. Knowledge of applicable local government legislation and regional district structures is an asset. Familiarity with financial/operations management systems such as Vadim and FMW Web is desirable.
A valid BC Drivers’ License is required. Weekly travel to the Dawson Creek office is required. During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Criminal Records Check.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, with one hour for lunch.
