Indigenous Communities Mining Mini-Grant Program

Western Mining Action Network and Indigenous Environmental Network

Description

WMAN cohosts a unique mining mini-grant program with the Indigenous Environmental Network.

This program is nearly unique in its form and scope and is of tremendous value to community-based organizations, many of whom have very few opportunities to access financial support outside their own individual pockets.

Eligibility

Priority is given to community-based grassroots groups and Indigenous organizations directly affected by mining. We strive to award at least half of our funding under this program to Indigenous-led organizations because mining has disproportionate impacts on Indigenous Peoples and their traditional lands. Secondarily, we will fund proposals from regional or national non-profit organizations in the U.S. and Canada working on mining-specific issues. Priority is given to applicants with an organizational or mining-specific program budget under $75,000 U.S.

Funding

Up to $4,000.
