District of Sicamous Council Announces $20,000 Fund to Support Community During COVID-19District of Sicamous
SICAMOUS - The District of Sicamous, like every other municipality in Canada, is navigating through the COVID-19 crisis during this unprecedented time. The citizens of our great community have followed the advice of Dr. Bonnie Henry and the Provincial government by self-isolating and practicing social distancing.
In response to this crisis, the District of Sicamous Council met on March 25, 2020 to discuss measures that will empower the community to better meet the local demands of the vulnerable and less fortunate.
Effective immediately, conference attendance fees identified in the 2020 operating budget will be re-allocated to an Emergency Grant Fund to help assist local charities and organizations that are combating the effects of COVID-19. The Emergency Grant Fund of $20,000 will be made available to local non-profit enterprises that require financial support to continue services. Grants will be limited to a maximum of $2,000 per application.
The electronic application form can be found at:
In addition, the District of Sicamous will accelerate capital projects already identified in the budget in order to get local business back to work. This includes the newly funded childcare facility and the Solsqua-Sicamous Bridge replacement project.
Council and staff all agree now is the time to focus on the positives and ensure that business continuity measures are in place while honoring the restrictions mandated by the Provincial government.
Thanks to all who continue to self-isolate and practice social distancing. We will prevail - TOGETHER.
