    The terms of the agreement are comparable to municipalities throughout British Columbia. CUPE 363 represents approximately 115 outside and inside workers at Public Works, and working in various municipal facilities including City Hall, the RCMP, Parks, Recreation & Culture and Public Works Administrative offices.

  5. Federal and Provincial Governments Invest in Sewer System Transformation for Oak Bay
    Funding will improve both stormwater and wastewater management by separating the existing combined sewer system in the Uplands neighbourhood of the district. Constructing new storm sewers and outfalls will allow the current system to be used exclusively as a wastewater sewer, helping to safeguard the community from flooding and the environment from possible adverse effects.

  6. Improvements to Abbotsford Pump Station Build Resilience, Make People Safer
    The City of Abbotsford is completing several key improvements to better equip the pump station to withstand severe floodwaters from the nearby Sumas and Nooksack rivers. These improvements include adding a six-metre flood wall, upgrading the debris screens and replacing the pump motors. These upgrades will ensure that the pump is better equipped to protect from future flooding events and will guard against other threats, such as debris from the Nooksack and Sumas rivers and power outages in the surrounding area.

    This new agreement provides for a general pay rate increase of 4% effective January 1, 2023, 4% effective January 1, 2024, and 3.5% increase effective January 1, 2025.

    With a growing population, the Province of BC identified Delta as one of 10 cities to receive a Housing Target Order, requiring the City add 3,607 net new completed homes in the next five years. In response to the provincial mandate, the City of Delta is revising its OCP to accommodate housing growth and meet evolving community needs.

    BC Builds is a new initiative that leverages government, community and non-profit owned and underused land with $2 billion in low-cost financing and a commitment of $950 million for the overall program. The program will focus on rental housing first with rents reflecting local conditions and determined on a community-by-community basis.
