City Clerk

As the City Clerk, you will act as Council secretariat, ensuring Council and the City conducts its business in accordance with relevant senior government legislation, City bylaws, corporate policies and procedures and in accordance with relevant case law. You will also ensure the corporate administrative responsibilities of the Corporate Officer as identified in the Community Charter are carried out, perform the duties for the City as “Head” under Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and act as City liaison for the provision of corporate legal services.
You have a University degree in public administration or related discipline; with a minimum of 10 years progressive experience in municipal administrative and regulatory environment and you have completed the Board of Governors Certificate in Local Government Statutory Administration. You have extensive knowledge and experience in interpreting senior government legislation, municipal bylaws, policies and procedures, and case law. You are a proven influential leader with excellent communication, teambuilding, and interpersonal skills and you have the ability to build strong working relationships and partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders. You have experience Clerking Council meetings and/or public hearing experience and a proven ability to handle confidential information.
