The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is the regional government serving the approximate 30,000 residents of the Sunshine Coast.  Bordered by rugged mountains on one side and the Georgia Strait on the other, the Sunshine Coast is situated on a peninsula between Howe Sound and Jervis Inlet in the traditional territory of the Sechelt and Squamish First Nations.  Known for its mild winters, beautiful surroundings, arts, culture, and friendly people, the Sunshine Coast is not only a preferred tourist destination, it is a great place to live.
 
The Sunshine Coast Regional District is currently inviting applications for the position of Asset Management Coordinator (Full-time).  Please note that this is a temporary position of unknown duration.  Reporting to the General Manager, Corporate Services the Asset Management Coordinator is responsible for the ongoing operation of the Corporate Asset Management Plan along with program development and implementation as required, to ensure that all corporate capital assets/infrastructure are maintained to optimize life cycle costs and minimize risks, and that there are long term financial strategies in place for their end of life replacement.
 
Candidates must have:
 
FORMAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
 
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in an acceptable related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution Including completion of the equivalent completion of a Level III accounting credential (CGA, CMA or CA) and two (2) years of directly related and relevant work experience, preferably in a local government setting; or
 
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in an acceptable related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution and three (3) years of directly related and relevant work experience, preferably in a local government setting; or
 
Completion of a two (2) year Diploma in a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution and five (5) years of directly related and relevant work experience, preferably in a local government setting.
 
Additional Training Preferred:
  • Project Management.
  • Related building construction and maintenance courses.
  • LEED Professional Accreditation.
  • Accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data management.
Other Skills/Knowledge
  • Demonstrated abilities, interest and enthusiasm related to asset and risk management.
  • Experience in developing business cases and detailed report writing.
  • Experience with financial analysis, budget preparation and budget management.
  • Experience in coordinating a team of diverse individuals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building and utility mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of WorkSafe BC regulations and safe work procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, facilitate and gain consensus with various stakeholders and teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations and maintenance personnel, finance staff and other key departments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to ensure information is communicated appropriately.
  • Highly motivated and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Analytical problem solving skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
