City-owned lands with development potential are managed by the City Lands Division within Strategic Initiatives. This group plays a centralized role for land related matters and is responsible for optimizing the City’s real estate assets. In a land development function, this group manages over 300 acres of land, of which the majority is located in the Northeast Sector. In response to a growing land portfolio and development pipeline, the City Lands Division is looking to add an experienced Land Development Project Lead, who is passionate about real estate and project management.
 
This unique opportunity requires advanced professional project management work involving considerable independent judgment, and the coordination and administration of all aspects related to land development. With the support of the Manager, Land Development, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing processes involved in the day-to-day administration of land development activities. You are a highly motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment dealing with highly complex and diverse issues related to real estate and land development. Other key responsibilities will include managing relationships with internal City departments and external consultants to advance activities related to development approval matters.
 
The successful applicant will have a post graduate degree in Planning or a combination of training and professional experience in Planning, Real Estate, Engineering or related discipline. Membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners is considered an asset.  The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of Council, Committees, other City Departments, residents and other stakeholders. Experience in planning, assigning and supervising the work of internal or external professionals and coordinating input from other Divisions and Departments is required. The successful applicant will have proven experience in project management, land development, and public consultation, together with high level negotiation skills to achieve mutually agreeable solutions.
