Public Works Manager
As the Public Works Manager, you will be responsible for the professional expertise, leadership, strategic planning, performance management along with the management of broad operational and capital areas within Public Works which includes Roadway Operations, Traffic Signals and Systems, Street Lighting, Traffic Operations, and Engineering Technical Support Services as well as the management of a City gravel mining operation. Public Works has a very high profile within the community with respect to overall community sustainability, public safety, and public health and as such, the Manager provides numerous media interviews, is the department representative to City Council on all Public Works issues, and is ultimately responsible for compliance with all regulatory, policy and legal infrastructure requirements.
You hold a Post-secondary degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and you have extensive public works and civil engineering management experience in the areas of operations and maintenance, planning, design, construction, performance management, budget preparation, financial management, facility management and human relations. You have exceptional leadership, communications and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate a team of staff. You have exemplary problem solving and communication skills and understand the benefits of building effective relationships with other City departments, external agencies and the public.
