The City of Abbotsford’s Finance and Procurement Services Department is looking for an experienced Collections Clerk II to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Operations, you will be responsible for providing information and assistance to outside and inside customers concerning taxes, accounts, charges, fees, billings and related matters.
This position performs cashier and clerical work in receiving, recording, balancing and processing receipts for a variety of City accounts and services and assisting the supervisor in performing a variety of related clerical tasks. The work also includes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the public.
In this challenging role, you will be responsible for receiving, processing and balancing all types of payments (cash, cheque and electronic) for a variety of accounts; issues receipts, balances money with register and prepares bank deposit. This position also oversees and monitors the Home Owner Grant Program and estimates takes and utilities on new property assessments. A knowledge of computer systems and operations related to collections and entry level accounting systems will guide your success in this position.
In order to be considered for this position you must have:

  • Grade 12 supplemented with bookkeeping and computer software courses.
  • Two years’ experience in a Collections environment performing cash receipting and clerical functions using computer software applications.

This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $26.87 to $31.56.
