Position Overview

Working with the leadership team, internal staff client groups, external stakeholders, and third-party service providers, you will produce communications materials aligned with NVRC’s strategic priorities, and specific programs and initiatives. This includes but is not limited to writing and editing a broad range of internal and external communication materials, such as web content, staff and public newsletters, blog stories, media releases, social media content, video scripts, backgrounders, letters, advisories, and presentations; overseeing the content management and enhancements to the employee Intranet; responding to communication issues that arise; and serving as the first point of contact for all media contacts. 

You are a creative, accomplished and experienced communications professional who will support the development and implementation of strategic and tactical internal and external communication plans and priorities. You are customer-focused, skilled in project management, and have the ability to build and maintain strong relationships both internal and external to NVRC. You have the ability to think critically and strategically; to synthesize complex information to produce clear, concise and compelling content using journalistic and plain- language writing; to handle confidential and sensitive issues with skill, tact and diplomacy; to work independently, communicate with project stakeholders, apply creative and constructive thinking to plan and execute projects with minimum supervision; and to complete work within required timelines and budget. You have a thorough knowledge of software applications used in the work such as the Microsoft Office suite of products, Adobe Acrobat, content management programs, and database and web-based programs. You also have the ability to analyze situations and make decisions within your delegated authority.

A degree or diploma in a related discipline, such as journalism, public relations or communications, plus a minimum of five years of experience in a professional communications role. Awareness and sensitivity to equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace is an asset.

Hours of Work

This is an exempt full-time position working 37.5 hours per week with a competitive salary and benefits package along with the option to participate in an earned days off program.
