Our Engineering Infrastructure Planning Group has a 2 year temporary full-time opportunity for an Engineering Administration Technician to provide engineering technical and administrative support. The successful candidate will provide a variety of technical information and assistance and perform office and field work of some variety and complexity. The work will be related to projects and infrastructure, external agency and utility company permits and other applications associated with engineering proposals, functions or issues. In evaluating and processing permit applications and proposals it will be vital to ensure conformance with municipal engineering bylaws, standards and requirements. The work entails report preparation, plan reading and interpretation. Liaison and collaboration tasks with the public, other agencies, utility companies, contractors and staff are essential skills.
You are self-motivated and have the ability to perform a variety of technical, liaison and administrative tasks; prepare estimates; prepare statistical or written reports and correspondence; read and interpret drawings, schedules, reports and specifications; use relevant computer software; establish and maintain effective working relationships and excellent communication with the general public, developers, consultants, contractors and staff; and perform tasks with limited supervision. Your time management skills are strong and you are able find practical solutions to complex problems. Preference will be given to applications with relevant experience with Project Management software.
You have some post-secondary technical engineering education and sound technical experience. Preference could be given to candidates possessing a Technical Certificate or Diploma in civil engineering or a related field. Infrastructure construction experience is an asset. A valid BC Driver’s Licence is required.
The salary range for this union position is $36.39 to $42.96 per hour (2021 rates) based on a 35 hour work week.
