Senior Bylaw Services Officer

Full-time Permanent Vacancy
 
The District of Lake Country is seeking a full-time permanent Senior Bylaw Services Officer to join their team. Reporting to the Manager of Bylaw and Building Services, the Senior Bylaw Services Officer is responsible for enforcing the District’s regulatory bylaws, business licenses and permits and providing public education and awareness programs and services to ensure public safety. The Senior Bylaw Services Officer provides assistance in leadership in training and motivating the Bylaw Services team; coordinates and conducts investigations; assists other department with bylaw compliance related matters; liaises with a variety of internal and external contacts; assists in the review and amendment of bylaws as required; and conducts patrols.
 
The preferred candidate will have:

  • A minimum of one-year post-secondary education in a related field;
  • A minimum of four years’ experience as a bylaw enforcement officer or police officer;
  • Bylaw Enforcement & Investigative Skills Levels 1 and 2;
  • A clear Criminal Record Check;
  • A clear driver’s abstract; and
  • A valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s License.

 
The normal work week is 35 hours, with a flexible rotational shift schedule that may include afternoons, evenings, and weekend shifts for parts of the year and as required. The hourly rate of pay for this unionized position is $40.60 per hour (2023 wage rate) plus a comprehensive benefits package, including wellness time, vacation, and pension. A probation rate of 90% applies to the six-month probation period.
