The City of Burnaby is looking for a Recreation Clerk 2 to join the team. This is customer focused, front line contact and clerical work at Cameron Recreation Complex. An incumbent provides information, assistance and direction to internal and external customers by telephone and over the counter; answers a variety of enquiries related to activity programs, facility, and rental information. The work includes but is not limited to supervising and providing leadership and routine direction in work of one or more subordinates, complex clerical work that requires high attention to detail and multitasking day to day responsibilities that entails verifying and recording cash receipts. Ensures adherence to cash handling and related departmental security procedures; updates and maintains a variety of departmental files, records, and procedural documents at a recreation facility including such areas as reception and registration, centralized telephone registration and computerized telephone system, or all office support services in a facility. Provides updates and implements approved departmental service area business processes and procedures, attends departmental meetings; maintains inventory of point of sale merchandise, office and operational supplies. Makes routine decisions, enforces rules and regulations regarding the proper use of facilities in the absence of the reporting supervisor. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by commercial, and word processing courses, cash handling and supervisory experiences, sound related office experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge to exercise initiative and make decisions related to departmental policies, practices, rules, and regulations (e.g. safety). Sound knowledge of computer terminal, cash register and cash handling procedures, principles, and practices; of business English, spelling, arithmetic, and punctuation. Ability to assign, supervise, review, train and participate in the work of one or more subordinates, deal effectively with the public, staff and officials in supplying information and assistance related to facility operations; to prepare and maintain a variety of records, files and reports related to the work including cash receipts and bank deposit slips. Skill in the operation of the computer systems (ActiveNet) and equipment related to work and office computer applications (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, POS).
