The City of Abbotsford is pleased to share that there is an exciting opportunity as a key member of our Project Management Office leadership team for the position of Senior Projects Manager. Reporting to the Director, Projects & Development Engineering, as the Senior Projects Manager you will provide leadership and insight in overseeing delivery of the Engineering Department Capital Program and strategic corporate capital projects. This will include providing expert knowledge and support, monitoring progress and reporting on portfolio status. You will manage some projects directly and will provide recommendations for the development, introduction and ongoing iteration of the City’s project delivery approach and work closely with infrastructure planning groups, operations and key stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from the planning to commission of completed projects. 
 
As the Senior Projects Manager, you oversee delivery of the Project Management Office portfolio, make recommendations on project implementation and management strategies along with providing expert knowledge and insight. You will manage the day to day activities in the Project Management Office by assigning projects, providing supervision and direction to the project management team and contribute to the financial planning process to ensure the realization of the City’s strategic priorities. 
 
You have the ability to motivate, mentor, coach and lead a diverse team of project management staff and external consultants and contractors. You are a strategic thinker and problem solver with sound judgement, with experience managing multiple priorities concurrently to move projects forward in a multi-stakeholder environment. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to build credible and trusted relationships with your team, with contractors, and throughout the organization and City.
 
The City seeks an individual with the following professional designations and experience:

  • P.Eng. designation (Registered Professional Engineer)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the field of Project Management
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role
