Special Projects Coordinator, Wastewater Services
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary full-time Special Projects Coordinator, Wastewater, based at the Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre, who will contribute to the effective operations by assisting in the development of comprehensive plans for the Wastewater Services department. The successful candidate will have responsibility for fieldwork at RDN’s various wastewater sites throughout the Greater Nanaimo and French Creek areas to collect, analyze and complete a variety of asset documentation. This exciting diverse role will also review, coordinate, and organize various electronic information. The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with appropriate Federal and Provincial Ministries, private industry and other regional districts or municipalities, as required. This position supports the preparation of various plans on matters related to programs and projects for Wastewater Services and will support our Environmental Management System.
QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in environmental studies, chemistry, geography, environmental planning, public administration, or a related field plus 1 to 3 years prior job-related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. An understanding of the Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations, the Municipal Wastewater Regulation, the Organic Matter Recycling Regulation, and the Sewerage System Regulation is considered an asset.
POSITION DETAILS
This is a six-month temporary full-time (35 Hours per week) Union position, with the possibility of ending early or of extension based on the operational needs of the department. The (2024) hourly rate of pay is $38.17 to $40.18, plus 12.4% in lieu of benefits including vacation and statutory holidays
