If you are passionate about engineering and customer service—this is the perfect role for you! An Engineering Information Clerk is responsible for responding to inquiries from both within the municipal network and the public, as well as issuing permits and fee collections in areas including sewer, water, design, environmental, traffic, inspection, and more. This role is pivotal to the success of the Engineering department as it gathers records of utilities such as sanitary and storm sewers, water supply lines, natural gas lines, pipelines, underground electric lines and service lines while communicating with Municipal Superintendents and Forepersons, building plan checkers, architects, and others. The Engineering Information Clerk will also assist by updating filing systems for a variety of information through the use of databases or spreadsheets, composing routine correspondence through mail and telephone, and plan checking of properties prior to finished construction. Performs related work as required.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent customer service skills and has good knowledge of filing, record keeping, office practices and procedures. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with a variety of contacts is essential, and the ability to exercise independent judgment based on established policies. Successful candidates will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by general office, record keeping and public contact experience, or an equivalent. Some knowledge of Engineering policies and procedures would be an asset.

Pay Rate: $30.70 per hour + 12% in lieu of benefits

Location: City Hall

Hours of Work: As this is an auxiliary position, hours and shifts can vary depending on operational requirements, and are scheduled on an as needed basis. Typical shifts in this position will be Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
