KINESIOLOGISTS AND PERSONAL TRAINERS

The West Vancouver Community Services Department has immediate openings for casual Kinesiologists and Personal Trainers. Reporting to the Health & Fitness Program Coordinator, our Kinesiologists and Personal Trainers provide their clientele with the knowledge, motivation and coaching to achieve their health and fitness goals. This position involves initial consultations/fitness assessments, understanding contraindications to exercise, clients’ goals and developing relationships and exercise programs to help meet these goals in a safe manner.

Required qualifications:
  • BCRPA registered personal trainer (or equivalent) and/or registered kinesiologist
  • St. John Standard First Aid Certification (or equivalent / higher certification), CPR Certificate and AED Certification

Preferred qualifications:
  • University Degree or Diploma in a health-related field
  • CSEP – CEP or ACSM – CEP
  • Registration with the British Columbia Association of Kinesiologists (BCAK)
  • Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist – CSCA or NSCA
  • Experience working with active rehabilitation clients post joint replacement surgery, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, osteoarthritis, Parkinson’s and/or stroke
  • Minimum one year experience in the health and wellness field working with special populations

The ideal candidates will possess:
  • A passion for fitness and is self-motivated, creative and energetic
  • Knowledge and understanding of active rehabilitation and evidence-based treatment planning and interventions for physical rehabilitation
  • Skilled in physical assessment, risk assessment, and exercise prescription/guidelines for special populations
  • The ability to coach, mentor and bring out the best in others
  • Excellent customer service and client retention skills
  • Excellent verbal & written communication and organizational skills
  • The ability to work well in a team setting
  • A flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evening and weekends

The successful candidates will be required to supply an acceptable police information check with vulnerable sector and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status:
Non-Union – Casual

Hours of Work:
Hours and days of work may vary; early mornings, days, evenings and weekends

Rate of Pay:
$28-$38 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits
This position offers a competitive wage based on experience and qualifications
