Corporate Officer


Due to a retirement vacancy, the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic professional in a key management position as Corporate Officer. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services/Deputy CAO, and with the support of two Deputy Corporate Officers and the Information and Privacy Analyst, you will take the lead in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of administrative, legislative, and governance processes. As the successful candidate you will:

  • Be responsible for the direction, organization, and administration of the RDCO legislative, privacy, records management, and risk management functions.
  • Provide governance recommendations to the CAO and the RDCO Board as the RDCO works alongside Westbank First Nation in inclusive governance efforts. 
  • Oversee accurate preparation and distribution of RDCO Board and committee agendas and minutes.
  • Conduct research and policy analysis; prepare a variety of correspondence and written reports.
  • Recommend, initiate, and prepare bylaws, policies, and procedures for Board and CAO consideration.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance to the Regional Board, the Senior Leadership Team and other regional district departments in areas of expertise including corporate administration, legislation interpretation, regulatory, and public processes. 
  • Be appointed as the Chief Election Officer and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act Head.
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Services/Deputy CAO with the implementation of the Department Goals and Board Strategic Plan initiatives.


To be the ideal candidate to fill this role, you will have a diploma or undergraduate degree in Local Government Management, Public Sector Management or Public Administration with a minimum of five years’ local government experience as an officer responsible for Corporate Administration. 

You will demonstrate the ability to build and maintain collaborative and supportive relationships to support multiple parties at the Board and executive level.  Superior communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential as well as sound problem solving skills and a demonstrated ability to respond to and resolve complex issues quickly and adeptly.  These attributes will be complemented by considerable independent leadership, strong political acumen, a customer service driven approach and excellent judgement.

This is an exempt position that has a salary range of $110,237. - $122,486 - $134,734. It is the RDCO’s philosophy to pay in the middle of the range for a fully qualified applicant.
