Manager, Communications

The Office of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer is looking for a regular full time Manager, Communications to join their Communications and Engagement team.

The Manager, Communications is the lead for the City of North Vancouver in all matters of communications activity, and is responsible for driving content generation and distribution across all platforms including digital, social, and traditional media channels, leading best practices in media relations / news sharing, proactive issues management and storytelling, and external communication planning for key files. The Manager also supports the integration of earned and organic communications with Tri-municipal communications shops and critical partners like Monova, North Vancouver Recreation and Culture, North Vancouver Public Library, North Shore Emergency Management.
 
The Manager supports the development and implementation of proactive communication programs and strategies from both a corporate and a client-group perspective and provides leadership and direction to a team of communications staff, external contractors and suppliers to ensure program continuity and flexibility to meet emerging needs. This role works closely with the Senior Manager of Communications and Engagement, as well as the Manager, Engagement, to deliver, implement and support an integrated and complimentary approach to all communications efforts within the City of North Vancouver.
 
Qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Journalism and considerable related experience in progressively senior marketing and communications roles in organizational or internal employee communications portfolios, including experience managing employees, project teams and contractors, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Excellent knowledge about local government operations and processes and extensive knowledge in developing and executing strategic communications plans is highly desirable. A valid class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.

We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $119,964 - $141,132 annually (2024 rates).
