We're seeking adaptable, driven individuals who love working as part of a team.

In addition to the satisfaction of contributing to your community, you'll also enjoy the flexibility of our shifts and the opportunity to work with a diverse team.

Whether you're interested in full-time or part-time roles, we have opportunities for approximately 6-8 months. Our shifts cover daytime, evenings, and weekends, offering variety and flexibility.

Expect physically demanding tasks but also the chance to showcase your skills with power and hand tools. This is not just a job, it's a platform for personal and professional growth.

As a Labourer 2 in our Parks Operations, you'll be part of diverse teams, including Sports Services, Urban Forestry, Infrastructure, and Landscape. Your responsibilities may involve:

  • Horticulture/Turf Care: Maintain lawns, plant perennials, and assist in landscaping projects.
  • Sports Services: Care for sports fields, deliver event supplies, and ensure parks are clean and welcoming.
  • Urban Forestry: Assist in plant removal, habitat maintenance, public education, and trail upkeep.
  • Infrastructure: Control litter, assist in construction projects, and maintain park assets.


Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Our ideal candidate has a minimum of some high school education and a construction or maintenance work background.
  • If you've worked in landscaping, urban forestry, or infrastructure, that's a definite plus.
  • Training in related fields such as Horticulture or Turf Grass Management is advantageous.
  • Experience with equipment like rotary mowers or chainsaws is also a bonus.
  • A valid BC Driver's License with a clean driving record is a must.

What We Offer: 
CUPE: This CUPE position has an hourly rate of $33.25 (2024 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
 
You will have the chance to join a rapidly growing and diverse team dedicated to supporting the local community, and be able to engage in variety of learning and development opportunities. Temporary full time opportunities provide an additional 6% in lieu of benefits as well as some health and wellness benefits. Auxiliary assignments will receive 12% in lieu of benefits.
