Project Manager

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME (4-Year term with possibility of extension)
($98,700 - $108,150/year)
(Competition #3-2024)

Community Profile
For almost 100 years, Kimberley was home to the Sullivan Mine, the largest lead/zinc mine in the world. Rather than disappear with the closure of the Sullivan, Kimberley has reinvented itself as a progressive community that is one of 14 Resort Municipalities in BC and home to 8,115 enthusiastic residents. Kimberley is about community first - our incredible recreation assets attract visitors, but it is the community that brings them back.

Kimberley has an impressive array of community assets, including 2 indoor ice surfaces, a curling center, an aquatic center, a conference center, the largest park in Western Canada, an arts center and much more. In addition, there are 100 km of roadways, 120km of water lines, 79km of sewer lines, 44km of storm lines along with water and waste water treatment facilities to maintain. With a total asset replacement value of over $660M, the City invests between $6M to $10M annually in Capital Projects to replace and maintain these assets.

Position Overview
Reporting to the department head and Senior Manager of Operations, the Project Manager oversees the Engineering Department as well as the implementation and administration of internal and contracted capital works programs and special projects. Adherence to project timelines, budgets, quality standards and safety are top priority. This person is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations for approval of servicing for subdivisions, ensuring compliance with City of Kimberley standards and bylaws. The Project Manager also liaises with developers, engineers, architects, government agencies, contractors, managers and staff as required, and undertakes other duties as assigned.

This is an exempt position based out of City Hall, but with some requirements to perform outside site reviews and inspections during inclement weather conditions and adverse site conditions.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a local government leadership role, as well as a post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, or in a related discipline. Ideal candidates will possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills as well as excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Applicants must have an in-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices with regard to municipal construction projects.

A good place to be…
Surrounded by the beautiful Rocky and Purcell mountains in south- eastern British Columbia, the City of Kimberley is a good place to live, work, learn, and play.
