Surrey Police Service (SPS) is Surrey’s new municipal police agency. The transition from the RCMP to SPS is well underway and SPS has spent the past three years building a local, modern, accountable police service for Surrey residents. On November 29, 2024, SPS will become the police of jurisdiction, assuming responsibility for policing and law enforcement in Surrey.

POSITION OVERVIEW:  
SPS has a rewarding opportunity for a Clerk 4 to join our Professional Standards Section providing confidential and efficient administrative support to a team of professionals dedicated to maintaining professional standards for SPS. This position is a key contact for complaint taking through various methods including email, phone, and in-person complaints. The successful candidate will be required to vet and prepare disclosure packages, review investigative reports, transcribe interviews, and take notes during meetings. The successful candidate will also be required to prepare weekly and monthly reports and liaise with external investigators and stakeholders.
 
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: arranging meetings and appointments, developing and maintaining systems pertaining to filing, maintaining and assuring the security of confidential files; composing a variety of technical letters; researching information and data from various sources to facilitate the organization; preparation of documents and reports; preparing statistical reports and performing data collection and entry; drafting documents and procedures; operating a variety of office equipment and performing other related duties as required.
 
Our successful candidate will be highly organized, with an ability to work independently and exercise good judgment in completing the duties of the position.  Our candidate will be able to communicate effectively and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships to respond to inquiries and be competent with computer applications related to the work. 
 
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will have completed Grade 12 supplemented by completion of several business courses at a post-secondary level with a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible and diversified clerical experience in an office setting. Applicants are also required to have an accurate typing speed of 45 words per minute.  Experience in an administrative position within a policing environment will be considered an asset.

This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $58,185.40 - $63,245.00 based on 2024 Rates.
