Summarized Position Responsibilities:
The Hydrovac Swamper Operator II assists the Equipment Operator (Hydro-vac) in the day-to-day operation of Hydrovac/flusher combo truck. This work includes a wide variety of manual tasks and safe handling and operation of tools and equipment required for flushing, cleaning, and hydro-excavation activities. This position will assist the Equipment Operator in a variety of routine activities such as sewer flushing, sewage station cleaning, storm drainage maintenance, hydro-excavation and utility daylighting as well as respond to various emergency and after-hours calls when required. With appropriate training and experience, this position will become the backup operator for the Hydrovac/Flusher combo truck for vacation, health leave etc. This position will also perform a variety of other maintenance activities such as snow/ice control and operation of various pieces of small equipment. The ideal candidate will have related experience in hydro excavating/flushing activities and a sound knowledge of construction and maintenance activities related to municipal infrastructure.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Grade 12 education
- 3 years of related experience
- Traffic Control, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, Transportation of Dangerous Goods
- Ground Disturbance Level II
- Occupational First Aid Level I
- Electrical Hazard Awareness, Snow/Ice Control Operator (APWA), WHMIS 2015
- Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License with air endorsement
- Class 3 B.C. Driver’s License with air endorsement preferred
- Completion of any WorkSafeBC recognized course such as: safe excavation and shoring, etc. preferred
- May be scheduled on an on-call rotation to provide after-hours coverage
