Scope
We’re looking for a motivated and hardworking Groundskeeper 2 to join our team. This position performs technical tasks in planning, coordinating, and delivering work related to the management of the Cloverdale Fairgrounds and other Civic Facilities.

Responsibilities
- Works on a variety of projects and tasks to support operations at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds such as gardening, turf maintenance, litter control, weeding, grading, pruning, plant installation, snow removal and ice control.
- Supports City of Surrey events and programs as required.
- Provides supervision to junior staff at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds during day-to-day operations and events.
- Interacting with the public, handling questions and complaints in a tactful and professional manner.
- Assists in administrating contracts for Parks Division work.
- Assists in preparing technical reports and maintains records.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
- The successful candidate may expect to work 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, in addition to evenings and weekends as required.
Qualifications
The successful candidate is required to meet one of the following criteria:
- Completion of grade 12, supplemented by successful completion of five additional relevant courses from an approved post-secondary education institution in any of the following course areas (Horticulture, Turfculture, Plant Biology, Arboriculture, Landscape Maintenance, & Landscape Installation/Design). Plus 2 years recent experience in landscape maintenance and/or landscape construction..
- Completion of Grade 12 and a Technical Certificate Program (one year full-time) from an approved post-secondary institution, supplemented by 18 months of recent experience in landscape maintenance and/or landscape construction.
- Completion of a diploma program from an approved post-secondary institution, with a minimum of 6 months recent experience in landscape maintenance and/or landscape construction.
You must also:
- have a valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving record
- be physically able to carry work of a heavy manual nature in all weather conditions is an asset.
- Pesticide Applicator’s License – to be obtained before the completion of probation period.
Applicants under consideration will be required to provide proof of qualifications and consent to a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
