Do you enjoy working with the public as a role model in a fun and friendly manner? Are you passionate about teaching water safety?  We’re actively recruiting Recreation Instructors in Aquaticsto join our team.

Duties of a Recreation Instructor in Aquatics include instructing Aquatic Leadership and Lifesaving courses such as Lifesaving Instructor (LSI), Swim Instructor (SI), National Lifeguard - Pool Option, Standard First Aid and any related re-certification clinics. Other responsibilities can include possibly assisting with in-service training for existing Lifeguard/Instructor staff and performing other related duties as required.

Applicants must have one of the following and must be current at time of application:

  1. Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Trainer
  2. Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor Trainer
  3. Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor
  4. Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor


Pool Operator’s Level 1 & 2 certificate, and valid Class 5 License for the Province of British Columbia are considered assets.

Pay Rate: $40.00 per hour.

Hours of work: This is a Contract Instructor position, the hours and shifts of work may vary based on the course being taught. Shifts may be up to 8 hours in length, starting as early as 7:00 AM and ending as late as 11:30 PM, Monday to Sunday. Shifts may be scheduled on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

Location: Eileen Dailly Pool, Fred Randall Pool, Bonsor Recreation Centre, MacPherson Outdoor Pool, Kensington Outdoor Pool, Robert Burnaby Outdoor Pool, Central Outdoor Pool
