About this Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Council Secretariat, the Community Safety Manager plays an integral role in leading, developing and overseeing the Law Enforcement Officers (LEO’s), and the provision of recommendations/advice to the Council Secretariat. The position carries out key strategic priorities within the WFN Government Strategic

  • Works as an integral member of WFN’s management team towards the successful delivery of key government priorities.
  •  Serves as a knowledgeable and trusted resource to WFN to ensure initiatives are in line with the WFN Constitution and WFN laws.
  • Manages all aspects of the Law Enforcement Officer team.
  • Is responsible for managing all aspects of departmental budgeting the Law Enforcement budget
  • Leads and encourages LEO’s to meet their deliverables under the Council Secretariat Departmental Strategic Plan
  • Collaborates with outside agencies on best practices and directs law enforcement services to WFN
  • Negotiates and develops Work Plans consistent with agreements for enhanced services with the Conservation Officer Service of British Columbia


Must Haves:

  • Degree in Justice Studies or related field; and
  • Minimum 5+ years of recent experience working in a First Nations Government, Enforcement, or related field
  • Experience in managing confidential situations and materials
  • Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN
  •  Experience in a law enforcement environment
  • Experience in financial management including budget planning and responsibilities
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in supervising and leading personnel.

The minimum starting salary for this position is: $77,528
