The City of Powell River is seeking a high-energy, dedicated professional to join our team as the Disability Management Specialist. This position supports the Director of Human Resources in being responsible for the coordination and delivery of the City’s programs related to illness and disability leave, attendance management, early return to work planning, occupational health and wellness programs to improve and promote employee health and proactively maximize employee attendance at work. The nature of the work is highly confidential and the incumbent must display the utmost discretion and sensitivity. A considerable level of persuasion is required in administering the various programs.
Ideally, you hold post-secondary credentials in disability management, occupational health or a relevant health discipline and a designation as an Occupational Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Disability Management Professional or Certified Return to Work Coordinator. You have at least five years of relevant experience in occupational health or disability management, ideally gained within a unionized setting, and expertise in complex case management resulting in successful return to work. A superior communicator and relationship-builder, you have considerable initiative and thrive in a high-performing team environment.
This is a full-time permanent position with annual salary range of $84,456 - $96,900. We offer a competitive benefit package that is wholly paid for by the employer and a superior pension plan. Employees have unlimited access to the Recreation Complex gym/swim/skate facilities during public hours, as well as unlimited drop-in fitness classes. Financial support for relocation is available.
