CEMETERY ATTENDANT
(Replacement Temporary Full-time)

The District of West Vancouver’s Parks Department is seeking a replacement temporary full-time Cemetery Attendant at the Capilano View Cemetery. Reporting to the Cemetery Foreperson, the Cemetery Attendant will be part of a team that prepares and conducts burials professionally and sensitively. Most of the work for this position is considered manual labour, requiring effort, stamina, ability to think proactively and to problem-solve; other aspects of the job include interacting with the public. Assignments vary, but include the care of lawns and grounds maintenance tasks, cemetery tasks including burials, burial locates, and customer service including interacting with individuals and families coping with loss.
The preferred candidate will possess experience and general knowledge concerning safe use of landscape and maintenance equipment including mowers and backhoe; sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit the performance of manual outdoor work in all types of weather; and have an aptitude/ interest in Cemetery operations. Sensitivity, professionalism and a team-focused, can-do attitude are desirable attributes. The candidate must hold or have the ability to acquire a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License.
The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.

Rate of Pay:
$35.55 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits
