The City of Abbotsford is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and driven professional Project Engineer to join our Project Management Division. The Project Management Division of the Engineering and Regional Utilities Department is responsible for delivering capital projects and programs/initiatives to help guide the infrastructure investments in the City and achieve Council’s vision for the City “…to be the Hub of the Fraser Valley.” 
 
We are excited to be looking for a talented Project Engineer to join the team. The Project Engineer’s responsibilities are coordination and managing of the design, tender and construction of capital projects related to City transportation, water, sanitary sewer, drainage, dyking/irrigation and related infrastructure, as well as other strategic capital projects. The project team is responsible for integrating and delivering projects identified in the City’s five year Financial Plan, taking care of cost sharing processes and providing assistance, direction and clarification of project intent to internal and external stakeholders. The Project Engineer works closely with infrastructure planning, operations and key internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from the planning to the commissioning of the completed projects. This Project Engineer will initially be delivering Flood Recovery projects which generally includes, sediment removal, dike repairs, bridge repairs, and landslide repairs.

You are a strategic thinker and problem solver with sound judgement. You have experience managing multiple priorities concurrently, with the ability to move projects forward in a multi-stakeholder environment. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills allow you to build credible and trusted relationships at all levels throughout the organization and City.
 
As the ideal candidate you will have:

  • Excellent communications skills;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.);
  • Solid understanding and ability to apply Project Management Principles to various types of projects;
  • Solid understanding and experience in the management of CCDC and MMCD contracts;
  • Five years of experience in the field of Project Management.
