    The Government of B.C. is contributing as much as $33 million across rural areas of the province through the second intake of the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program (REDIP). Communities in the southern Interior region will be receiving as much as $4 million from REDIP for 15 approved projects to help strengthen local economies.

    In December 2023, the Province initiated a Digital Business Card pilot program for sole proprietorships. The City of Vancouver became the first municipal government to accept this credential, allowing applicants to use it when filling out applications for new business licences and as proof of business ownership.

    The new 10,644 square metre (114,571 square foot) state-of-the-art facility is the City of New Westminster’s largest capital project to date. The combined aquatic and community centre is LEED Gold certified and is Canada’s first completed all-electric facility to achieve the Canada Green Building Council’s (CAGBC) Zero Carbon Building-Design Standard.

Cities including Prince George, Kelowna, and Welland, Ontario have all implemented this proactive communication tactic to support the dissemination of accurate information. ​​​The City will select topics based on widely discussed information that is not accurate and is causing public confusion.

  8. TNRD and CUPE Local 900 Ratify New Two-Year Agreement
    The new agreement includes a 4% pay scale increase as of December 31, 2023, as well as a 4% wage increase retroactive to January 1, 2024, and a 3.5% wage increase effective as of January 1, 2025.

  9. New Collective Agreement Ratified at City of West Kelowna
    The agreement, which the ALGEU ratified on April 17 and which West Kelowna City Council ratified on April 23, provides 155 full-time and 40 relief and term positions with wage increases that are consistent with recent labour agreements elsewhere in B.C.

  10. More Priority Communities Selected to Deliver More Homes
    The Province introduced the Housing Supply Act in 2023 and established housing targets for the first 10 priority municipalities, based on areas of greatest need and highest projected growth. Twenty additional priority municipalities have been identified. The Province will work with these communities to ensure they meet their housing targets, laying the foundation for tens of thousands more homes to be built quicker.
