Abstract:
This document is written primarily for people who are planning some form of activity or development near wetlands, as well as those looking for guidance on ways to best maintain the high ecological values in these areas. The first two chapters of the document provide an overview of wetlands in BC (what they are, various types, and their benefits), the potential impacts of human activities, and general guidelines for wetland protection and management. Each subsequent chapter provides an overview of an individual sector’s potential impacts to wetlands, relevant legislation, and guidelines for impact reduction, management and monitoring. A references and further reading section rounds out each chapter.
