Across the street from Christine Sinclair Community Centre and adjacent to Bill Copeland Sport Centre, we are building Burnaby Lake Aquatic Center and Arena to replace C.G Brown and Burnaby Lake Arena. This complex will become a destination recreation facility and will form part of the overall campus of sports facilities and fields with Burnaby Lake Sports Complex. As a Recreation Complex Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a dynamic group of staff who deliver inclusive, innovative and creative programs, services and special events to a diverse and vibrant community in all of these facilities which make up the Central Valley Complex. We are looking for an individual with strong leadership and communication skills who is able to motivate and inspire their team. This is administrative and supervisory work in planning, coordination, development and implementation of community recreation programs and services at a variety of recreational facilities or at a large multi-purpose complex. An incumbent plans, develops, coordinates, evaluates and administers programs, facility operations and other activities; prepares and upon approval, administers operating budgets for programs and services, facilities operations and related activities; monitors expenditures and takes corrective action to avoid cost over-runs; provides recommendations for revenue generation, financial improvements and cost savings; identifies and assesses the need for capital expenditures; develops business cases for capital and surplus budget expenditures; coordinates the allocation and use of facilities; ensures effective supervision of all events, shows and games; reviews and monitors schedules to ensure optimal utilization of resources and that goals are being met. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include University degree in recreation or related discipline, including or supplemented by courses in recreation, education and business administration plus considerable related experience at the supervisory level, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and policies governing the work performed. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate and administer the operations, programs, allotments, events, facility renovations and services for a multipurpose recreational complex or number of recreation facilities under minimal supervision; to provide liaison, consultative and recreation advisory services to community associations, groups and organizations and to promote partnerships, community involvement and interest in an extensive range of recreation activities; to plan, assign, check and supervise the work of subordinate staff, and hire and train staff as required. A valid Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

Location: Central Valley Complex

Schedule: 80 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday; between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some evenings and weekends may be required based on operational requirements).

This is a Temporary Full Time position until May 27, 2026.
