Schedule: 48 hours bi-weekly (0.60 FTE); Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 AM – 7:30 PM

This is recreational programing work assisting a supervisor in planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing a variety of specified recreational aquatic programs. The incumbent hires and trains part-time and full-time aquatic supervisors for instructional and lifeguarding staff; plans, assigns, supervises checks and evaluates the work of same and recruits and trains volunteers; promotes interest and participation in program activities and establishes and maintains liaison with community groups, the general public, and/or school officials; prepares promotional material and may address various groups regarding program offerings; assists a supervisor in the preparation and monitoring of program budgets; requisitions supplies and equipment upon a supervisor’s approval; prepares and maintains records, reports and correspondence related to the work. Performs other related work as required.
Qualifications include graduation from a community college in a related field plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge of the recreational interests needs and resources of the community served; the policies, procedures, rules, and regulations governing the work performed; teaching methods and group leadership techniques related to the work. Ability to assist in planning, developing, scheduling, coordinating, and implementing aquatic recreational programs which meet the needs and interests of the community served; establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of external and internal contacts and to promote public interest and participation in programs; present ideas and viewpoints effectively both orally and in writing. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
