This paper describes how the Village of Chase responded to the massive McGillivray Fire that burned adjacent to the Village in late August of 2003. The fire burned for one month creating a tense and unique environment in which the Village had to operate. The Fire presented some unique challenges, not only for the corporation, but also for those administering the response. In particular, leadership emerged as the crucial element in an effective and efficient response which resulted in the Village providing highly effective crisis management.
