Beyond the Guidebook: Towards a Watershed Health Legacy in the Georgia Basin

Abstract:
This report provides guidance for communities who want to improve watershed health, build rainwater resilience, and ensure sustainable service delivery. Documenting a shared journey towards integrated stormwater management in BC, it provides lessons and case studies for those wishing to turn back the clock on environmental degradation through green design at a watershed scale. 
 
Beyond the Guidebook is filled with graphics and examples, and written to meet the needs of different types of users. Part A caters to ‘the busy reader’ looking for an overview of how the built environment can be designed to restore watershed health. Part B helps those looking to better understand the regulatory context for stormwater management in BC. Part C guides users through the Water Sustainability Action Plan for BC and gives examples of how champions with the right tools can help reverse the trend towards environmental degradation. Part D speaks to water, land use and infrastructure professionals, and showcases an example of local government champions collaborating to reach a shared watershed health goal in the Georgia Basin.
